Working With Photographs

With the advent of electronic devices - phones, cameras, multiple computers - it becomes more daunting, and more important to organize electronic files. Photos and music files pile up, pictures and folders all over the place...what to do? Here is a Tech Tip on how to rename, organize, and save your pictures in one easy maneuver, using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. You must have Microsoft Office to use the Picture Manager, but there are several different programs that are similar to this method.
If you use Windows 7 or Vista, click here to see Renaming, Saving, and Organizing Pictures instructions.
If you use Windows XP, click here to see Renaming, Saving and Organizing Pictures instructions.

Mouse Tips

Clicking and Right Clicking:
“Clicking” is the normal clicking of the button on the left side of the mouse.
“Right-clicking” is single clicking on the right mouse button; this will bring up a shortcut or context menu specific to the action and application you are currently using; the menu options change depending on what you are working on.
Using the Snap To Shortcut Capability:
Click Start, Control Panel.
Click the Printers and Other Hardware icon.
Click Mouse, and click the Pointer Options tab.
Place a check in the Snap to box to “automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box”.
Show Pointer Location Option:
Placing a check in this box helps to locate the cursor for you, or drive others crazy when they are using your PC.
In General:
When in a document or spreadsheet, when the cursor changes from a thin line (Word) or from a small cross (Excel) to something different, such as an arrow or a small bold arrow, you are changing the action of the cursor to an Insert or other function (inserting a row into a spreadsheet or highlighting a sentence, for example).
In Word, double clicking on a word highlights the word, and triple clicking will highlight an entire sentence or paragraph.
